showtime!

I’m not sure if y’all remember, but right before I left this summer I choreographed a piece called, “Baggage…Literally.”  The piece tells the story of a hoarder who has let her emotional and literal baggage come between those who are closest to her. It was never performed live, so the second I got back to NYC I started applying to festivals. To my extreme delight it was chosen for the Perceptions Dance Festival taking place this weekend, September 20-22.

The cast is slightly different (and somehow much taller), but all the riveting emotions are the same.  I won’t tell you anymore in hopes that you’ll be so intrigued about the dance that you feel shamelessly compelled to come out and see it.  Here is the info you need to know:

Where: Triskelion Arts - Aldous Theater, 118 North 11th Street, 3rd Floor, Brooklyn, NY

When: September 21st and 22nd at 8PM

How much: $15

Tickets: Pre-sale tickets can be purchased here, or at the door with cash.  We’ve been told that the tickets go fast, so pre-ordering them is your best bet.

After-party: there’s a reception following the show where you can schmooze and drink gin cocktails with the best of them.  Then, knowing us, we’ll probably sneak on over to Brooklyn Brewery for additional celebrating.

The festival was also awesome enough to set up artist pages for all participating choreographers/companies. Check out my page by clicking here.

I really hope some of you can stop by for an evening of modern dance and certain debauchery.  It’s great to kick-off my first month back with my first festival performance as a choreographer and talented friends who are willing to put their souls into my vision.  Who knew throwing around plastic bags could be so powerful?

Here’s to some good ole performance art.

xx
